Qatar welcomes people from around the world to live and work in the country, often on a temporary basis.
Residents, sponsors and citizens are required by law to adhere to the rules and regulations of the nation. A comprehensive system of visas and residence permits has been set up to help keep track of Qatar’s transient population and ensure security for all.
The Ministry of Interior (MoI) is responsible for handling immigration, policing and national security. Many personal document services can be done online here on Hukoomi, including visas, driving licences and residence permits.
In addition to attracting workers from abroad, Qatar is also a popular tourist destination. Visitors from 33 countries will receive a visa on arrival, providing a quick and easy way to enter the country. Visitors from countries who do not have a visa on arrival arrangement with Qatar can apply for one by contacting the MoI in Doha.
