All expatriate residents, except wives and dependent children under family sponsorship, require a business leave notification to leave the country. Qatari minors under the age of 18 and unmarried women under 25 are also required to carry an exit permit.
Business leave notifications are normally processed by the resident’s employer. Employees can visit Passport and Expatriate Affairs Dept. to apply in case of employer’s rejection or abstention. Qatari citizens may apply for exit permits on behalf of their dependents.
The business leave notification validity is one year (from one day to 365 days). Residents are advised to arrange for this notification ahead of time.
Government agencies and private companies may apply for business leave notifications online. Alternatively, a company representative may also apply in person at the Ministry of Interior’s Passport and Expatriate Affairs department. The head immigration office is located on Luqta Street (road to Qatar Foundation) just west of D-Ring Road.
Male Qatari citizens over the age of 18 may apply for single or multiple exit permits for his family members. The application can be completed online or in person at MOI's Nationality and Travel Documents Department.
