Service Description

The Speech Therapy Department at Hamad Medical Corporation’s (HMC) Qatar Rehabilitation Institute (QRI) provides its outpatient department patients a virtual consultation clinic via the VSee telemedicine solution to provide medical consultations via video conferencing.

The virtual services are provided to those who suffer from any of the following:

• Language and Communications delays.
• Speech disorders.
• Stuttering disorders.
• Voice disorders.
• Swallowing disorders.

Instructions

• The patient is referred to the speech therapy clinic and are contacted by a therapist who explains how virtual services are provided.
• If the patient and their family or caregiver is comfortable with participating in a video consultation, an appointment is confirmed by the reception team.
• A link with the appointment details is texted to the patient which allows them to join the therapist in the virtual clinic.
• The patient sends the test to the therapist’s email, who begins the assessment procedure while keeping patients’ information confidential.

Service Timings

For speech and language virtual clinics at QRI:

• Morning Shift: From 8:00 am - 1:00 pm.
• Evening Shift: 1:00 pm – 6:00 pm.

Additional Information

• Patients who are not comfortable with video consultations, therapists will provide them with tips, guidance, and a treatment plan, according to their individual needs, via a telephone call.
• This service aims to prevent Corona Virus (COVID-19), following the cancellation of all routine outpatient appointments as part of the precautionary measures taken by the health sector.
