Request Technical Research Before Submitting Patent Registration Request

Individuals and businesses may submit a request to the Intellectual Property Protection Department at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MOCI) to conduct a technical research before submitting a patent registration request.

Online Instructions

  • Log in to the Investor Services, entering the username and password.
  • Choose “Issue Deposit and Copyright Certificate” service from the “Copyright Services” list.
  • Read general instructions, then click on “Agree”.
  • Enter applicant data, then click on “Next”.
  • Complete all the required information online.
  • Review and adopt application data summary and submit your application.
  • Pay appropriate fees and print the certificate.

Offline Instructions

  • Visit the MOCI headquarters or any of its branches.
  • Submit a letter noting the required service and the field of patent to be researched.
  • Pay appropriate fees, and provide the receipt.

Applicable fees are as follows:

  • Students: Exempted from fees
  • Individuals: QR500
  • Educational or research institutions: QR1000
  • Companies and establishments: QR2000

Additional Information

  • After the application is submitted and the fees are paid, the technical examiner looks for the patent field and delivers the documents to the service provider.
