Description

A disciplinary board or court may submit a request to Admission Committee of Chartered Accountants at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MOCI) to suspend the registration of a chartered accountant as a disciplinary action.

The suspension penalty shall not exceed a maximum of 365 days, and an officer from the Audit Control Department attaches the court or disciplinary board decision to the chartered accountant record. It is then approved by the department head, and the governing business rules are to be applied.

Online Instructions

• Log in to the Investor Services, entering the username and password.
• Choose “Suspension of Chartered Accountant Registration” service from the “Chartered Accountants Services” list.
• Read general instructions, then click on “Agree”.
• Select registration of chartered accountant to be suspended, then click on “Next”.
• Inquire about registration of accountant mentioned in the suspension decision, and enter decision details (type of decision: court or disciplinary board decision - entity name - decision number - decision issuance date - suspension effective date - suspension end date - reason for suspension, provided that the period between the start date and end date does not exceed 365 days), then click on “Next”.
• Attach suspension decision of accountant registration and registration of chartered accountant issued from a court or disciplinary board, then click on “Next”.
• Review and adopt application data summary, then submit your application.
• Print summary of filled in data on suspension decision

Additional Information

• An Audit Control Department officer shall apply for this service, then the decision to suspend a chartered accountant is approved.
• Once the suspension decision is approved by the Audit Control Department head, the registration status of the accountant is changed to ‘suspended’, and business-related suspension rules are applied before finally notifyi8ng the suspended accountant.
