Description
Individuals and businesses may submit a request to the Intellectual Property Protection Department at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MOCI) to extend the application period for patent registration. The Department, in turn, examines the applications and accepts or rejects the extension.
Offline Instructions
- Submit an official letter for requesting period extension to the Intellectual Property Protection Department, stating the required period. For decisions of appeals only, clarifying the reason is required.
- Pay appropriate fees.

Fees
Applicable fees are as follows:
- Students: QR50
- Individuals: QR500
- Educational or research institutions: QR500
- Companies and institutions: QR1000

- After fee payment, the appeal to extend the deadline, the deadline type and the reason for extension are all examined, then the applicant is notified about the result.
