Individuals and businesses may submit a request to the Intellectual Property Protection Department at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MOCI) to oppose the registration of a trademark.
Offline Instructions
Download and fill out the paper form, then print it out and submit it to MOCI or any of its branches.
A request to oppose the registration of a trademark shall be submitted within four months from the date of announcing the approval of the trademark in the newspaper.
After fees are paid and request is received, the trademark registration applicant is notified about the opposition to provide a written reply within two months or, otherwise, the request is deemed waived.
After that, a hearing is scheduled to listen to both parties and, accordingly, the Industrial Property Protection Office decides to either accept or reject the opposition.
