Description

Individuals and businesses may submit a request to the Intellectual Property Protection Department at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MOCI) to register a trademark.

Offline Instructions

  • Download and fill out the paper form, then submit it to the Industrial Property Protection Office at the Intellectual Property Protection Department.
  • For Individuals: Write name, surname, occupation, nationality and place of residence of applicant.
  • For Companies: Write name, address and type of company, along with the purpose of the trademark.
  • Identify the products and services for which the trademark is required.
  • Paste the logo of the trademark to be registered in the allocated space within the paper form, and attach four copies of it.
  • Write the name of the entity where the business is located, or the exploitation project using the trademark or the party that will use the trademark to distinguish its goods or products.
  • Write addresses of selected places in the State of Qatar where correspondences and documents related to trademark registration are sent.
  • Sign the paper form, if you are the trademark owner or an agent.
  • Attach the following documents:

  • Official extract of the commercial register belonging to the owner of the trademark requiring registration.
  • Official certified authorization (in case the application is submitted by an agent)
  • Certified translation into Arabic, if the application for trademark registration includes terms or phrases written in a foreign language.

  • Pay appropriate fees.

Additional Information

  • The trademark logo shall be an exact match to the one in the registration application, with four copies of this page attached.
  • If the applicant for trademark registration wishes to enjoy the right of priority to register a trademark based on a previously filed application in a member state of a multilateral international agreement to which the State of Qatar is a member, then a copy of the previous application stating the date and number of the application, along with the country where it was provided, shall be submitted. This shall be duly approved by the competent authority in the state where it was previously submitted and authenticated by the Qatari Embassy within six months from the date of the previous application on which it is based.
  • After the payment of fees, the competent employee enters the application data in the database.
  • The competent employee then examines the trademark registration application and issues a decision indicating whether the application has been accepted without conditions, with conditions or rejected.
