Description

Local investors may submit a request to the Intellectual Property Protection Department at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MOCI) to register group trademark, after meeting all the required terms.

Offline Instructions

• Download and fill out the paper form, then submit it to the Industrial Property Protection Office at the Intellectual Property Protection Department.
• For individuals: Write applicant’s name, surname, occupation, nationality and place of residence.
• For companies: Write company name, address, type and purpose of trademark.
• Identify the products and services for which the trademark is required.
• Add the trademark’s logo that is to be registered, consisting of four copies, and stick it to the required space within the form.
• Write name of entity where the business is located or the exploitation project that uses the trademark or the party that will use it to distinguish its goods or products.
• Write addresses of selected places in the State of Qatar where the documents related to the registration of the trademarks are sent.
• Provide signature of trademark owner or agent on the form.

Attach the following documents:

• Official extract of trademark owner’s commercial register
• Official certified authorization (in case the application was submitted by an agent)
• Certified translation into Arabic (if the application for trademark registration includes terms or phrases written in a foreign language)
• Submit copy of the previous application stating the date and number of the application, along with the country in which it was submitted must be stated. The Qatari Embassy must approve it within six months from the date of the previous application on which it is based (if the applicant requesting registration of the trademark wishes to enjoy the right to priority in registration of the trademark based on a previously filed application in a member state of a multilateral international agreement to which the State of Qatar is a member).
• Pay appropriate fees.

Additional Information

• After paying appropriate fees, the employee in charge enters the application details in the database.
• The application is examined and a decision is made to either accept it without conditions, with conditions or reject the registration request.
