The State of Qatar, represented by "Qatar Open Data Portal" of the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MOTC), has won the 2020 World Summit on Information Society (WSIS 2020) award for the category of E-Science. The announcement came yesterday (Monday), 7 September 2020 during the opening activities of the last week of the WSIS 2020, which is held by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) via videoconferencing from Monday until Wednesday, 9 September 2020.

On this occasion, Ms. Mashael Ali Al Hammadi, Acting Assistant Undersecretary for Information Technology Affairs at the MOTC, said: "We are happy at 'Qatar Open Data Portal' winning the WSIS award for this year under the category of 'e-Science.' I congratulate the State of Qatar for winning this award, which unquestionably represents an international recognition for the digital progress achieved by the State of Qatar within the Qatar Digital Government Strategy."

Ms. Al Hammadi noted that this is an indication of its progress in improving its online services provided to the public, facilitating it in the cyberspace, and getting rid of the restrictions of time and place, wishing for the permanent presence of Qatar Digital Government's projects and programs on the coronation platforms to raise Qatar's name high in international forums.

Ms. Al-Hammadi added: "We in the MOTC express sincere thanks to all government agencies' partners in the portal in Qatar for providing all the data and statistics needed for the portal."
