News Details

Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICU) at Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) have made notable progress in the management of premature babies and delivering the best possible outcomes which have put the State of Qatar at the forefront of the countries achieving the highest level of services and care to maintain the health of premature babies worldwide. It is worth noting that around 50% of a total of 2540 cases had been admitted to Women's Wellness and Research Center (WWRC) last year and babies were born prematurely.

Dr. Hilal Al Rifai, acting chief executive and medical director of WWRC, has said: "The NICUs have made great success in the management of premature babies and establishing a dedicated Tiny Baby Unit. This is in addition to the success of the "Golden Hour" program that focuses on delivering the best expert multidisciplinary resuscitation and stabilization with outstanding great success in the management of premature babies."

HMC has recently marked World Prematurity Day, to raise awareness of impact that might be caused by premature births and to provide support for patients and families of premature babies.
