Sidra Medicine, a member of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development, has launched a digital platform for its anatomical pathology laboratory, marking it as the first digital anatomical pathology laboratory for children in the Middle East.
Sidra Medicine’s Pathology department, which was accredited by the Accreditation Committee of the College of American Pathologists in 2019, serves patients by providing state-of-the-art diagnostic services dedicated to improving the diagnosis, treatment, management and prevention of childhood diseases. It also plays a fundamental role in precision diagnostics for its young patients suffering from diseases like cancer.
Dr. Adrian Charles, Division Chief of Anatomical Pathology at Sidra Medicine, said that there is a great dependency on the pathology practice due to a global rise in diagnostic related diseases such as cancer and an increasing demand to identify the exact sub-types cancer.
He added that the presence of a digital anatomical pathology laboratory in Sidra Medicine helps in achieving better results for patient care in the future, and supports transformational research efforts, especially with the increasing demand for faster, more effective, regular and error-free diagnostics.
