The Shura Council (Advisory Council) held its regular weekly session yesterday under the chairmanship of HE Mr. Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid Al Mahmoud, Chairman of the Council.

At the beginning of the session, the Council discussed Decree-Law No. (16) of 2020 amending some provisions of Decree-Law No. 11 of 2012 on the governmental regulation for the sale and purchase of chemical and petrochemical products that are produced in the State of Qatar.

HE Mr. Ahmed bin Abdullah Al Mahmoud, Chairman of the Shura Council, said during the Council's discussion of a Decree-Law No. (18) of 2020 amending some provisions of the Labor Law promulgated by Law No. (14) of 2004, that the decree contains two articles and the third is procedural. He clarified that the first article stipulated the amendment of Articles 39, 43, 49, 115, 144 bis and 145 bis. He pointed out that the amendment to Article 39 authorized the employer to terminate the contract during the probationary period if the worker is found to be unfit to perform the work. This is provided that the worker is notified at least one month before the date of termination of the contract, while in the current law the notification period was 3 days, as he said.
