During the sixty-third series of meetings of the assemblies of the member states of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) that were convened this month, the state of Qatar won the presidency of the International Union for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works (Berne Union) that belongs to WIPO.

WIPO member states had unanimously agreed to elect Ahmed Essa Al Sulaiti, Acting Director of the office of the State of Qatar to the World Trade Organization (WTO) as Chairman of the Committee of the Union for two years, with the election of representatives from US and Finland as chairman deputies.
