The State of Qatar has topped the global Internet Speed Index that ranks 139 states worldwide. Qatar has been ranked first in the Arab world and ranked second globally, coming after South Korea that has been ranked first. Thus, Qatar has exceeded 24 full rankings compared to its ranking in the last year in which Qatar was ranked 26th globally.
The ranking reflects the huge growth that the communication sector in the State of Qatar has witnessed in the latest phase, which has made Qatar occupy a leading position in the Arab world in this regard.
The Internet Speed Index of this year has expected that the State of Qatar would move forward in the upcoming rankings, in light of the huge focus in further developing the communication sector to reach the maximum level as much as possible, particularly during the period before the kick-off of FIFA World Cup 2022 organized by Qatar, which will witness the arrival of millions of visitors to Doha, and thus, requires the provision of high-quality, super-fast internet services.
