Qatar is participating in the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Prizes 2022 competition of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), which aims to evaluate the global projects and activities that benefit from ICT developments in achieving sustainable development.

The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) announced that 17 Qatari projects have been nominated for the third phase of the competition, where the public and stakeholders in Qatar can vote for Qatari projects to win the award, before the voting deadline set for March 31, taking into account the basic rules when voting, including voting for one project in every category.

Commenting on Qatar's participation in the WSIS Prizes 2022, HE Mr Mohammed bin Ali Al Mannai, MCIT Minister, said that Qatar's keenness to move forward towards investing in digital technology and providing innovative and flexible solutions enabled it to rise at the global level. This was reflected in the State of Qatar's top ranking in many global indicators, having completed many effective local projects that contributed to the realization of a knowledge-based digital economy, besides promoting the development of the society and making it more sustainable.

Ms Mashael Ali Al Hammadi, Acting Assistant Undersecretary of Information Technology Affairs at MCIT, said that Qatar's participation as a golden sponsor for WSIS Forum 2022 came in appreciation of the efforts made by the Forum and to support the work it is doing. She indicated that the State of Qatar will not hesitate to support any local or global project aimed at promoting the use of innovative technology and implementing the digital transformation approach in order to achieve and create a knowledge and digital society that would support sustainable development and raise the value of human beings.
