The State of Qatar participated yesterday in the 25th session of the Arab Telecommunications and Information Council of Ministers (ATICM), which was held in a virtual format and attended by several Arab ministers and officials. The Qatari delegation from the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), the Communications Regulatory Authority (CRA), and Qatar Postal Service Company (Qatar Post) was headed by His Excellency Mohammed bin Ali Al-Mannai, Minister of Communications and Information Technology.
The meeting's agenda included a set of topics related to the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) sector and the Postal sector. The meeting reviewed the results of the meetings of the specialized Arab technical committees in the ICT and Postal fields, in addition to the reports and recommendations issued by the Arab working groups specialized in the two fields.
The meeting also discussed the activities of ATICM observatory bodies, including the International Telecommunication Union Regional Office for the Arab States, the Arab Information and Communication Technology Organization (AICTO), the Arab Regulators Network of Telecommunications and Information Technologies (AREGNET), and the China-Arab States Technology Transfer Center of the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (CASTTC-AASTMT). In addition, it was agreed on the date and place for holding the 50th and 51st sessions of the ATICM Executive Bureau, and the 26th session of the ATICM.
Qatar is keen to participate in the meetings of the specialized Arab councils to enhance cooperation and exchange opinions, experiences, and recommendations in order to unify the efforts and positions in the international meetings. Also, to be informed about participation opportunities in related future activities, initiatives, and projects, which contribute to the development of the ICT and Postal sectors in the Arab countries.
