The Ministry of Transport and Communications (MOTC) has confirmed the nomination of "Qatar Open Data Portal" among the top five projects of the World Summit on Information Society Prizes 2020 (WSIS2020) worldwide, which is organized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). In a tweet on its official Twitter account yesterday, MOTC called for the participation in the virtual ceremony that would be held today, Monday, via the internet.
Three projects of the State of Qatar have been selected as the heroes of the year 2020 on the World Summit on Information Society Award. The second category of the award included the "Centralized Connectivity in the Schools Network" at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MOEHE), while the seventh category included the "Open Data" portal under the MOTC, and the eighth category included the multilingual e-contract system project - the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labor and Social Affairs (MADLSA).
The list of the Qatari projects that had qualified for the third phase of the award included "SafeSpace" under the category of building confidence and security in the use of information and communication technology (ICT), "Open Data" portal under the category of ICT applications: E-Science, and the "Digital Transformation of Small and Medium Business Enterprises DTSME" under ICT applications: E-Business.
