Qatar Environment and Energy Research Institute (QEERI), affiliated with Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), has recently released a first solar energy atlas in the State of Qatar. It is a tool that quantifies the country's solar energy resources and its geographical distribution as a first step toward accelerating the use of more of these resources across the country.

The Solar Energy Atlas, which comes as the culmination of the research work conducted by QEERI's Energy Center over the last five years, aims at supporting the development of progressive national policies on solar-based sustainable energy.

It also aims at identifying new profitable investments and markets to enhance the creation of green jobs and a technological innovation system.
