The State of Qatar has achieved first place worldwide in the number of customs seizures related to combating the smuggling of preventive and treatment products for the Coronavirus (COVID-19), such as disinfection materials, sterilizers, medical masks and others.
This came in the final report of the international emergency special operation (STOP), which was called for by the World Customs Organization, the World Health Organization and the Interpol Organization, and was implemented during the period from 11 May to 12 July 2020.
The final report of the operation praised the State of Qatar's efforts, confirming that it raises the status of the Middle East and North Africa region. It was also pointed out that the State of Qatar has been distinguished by the achievement of a large number of seizures, amounting to 198, something which indicates the strength of monitoring imposed by the Customs of the State of Qatar on goods imported into the country, in addition to transit goods.
