The Ministry clarified that as of Tuesday, 1 September 2020, operators of public transport modes (buses and metro) will be allowed to resume their activities in a manner that does not exceed 30% capacity of these modes. This is in in accordance with operating hours that had been previously followed before suspending the service in the light of implementing the preventive measures and procedures taken by the State, while the situation will be assessed on a weekly basis.
MOTC stresses the need for all operators of public transport modes to comply with the precautionary and preventive measures specified by the Ministry of Public Health (MOPH), check all workers of public transport modes and stations in order to undergo Coronavirus (COVID-19) test, and ensure a negative result before allowing them to resume their works. Those measures also include checking their temperatures daily and continuously, isolating those who exhibit disease symptoms and contacting the relevant authorities for taking any necessary precautionary and health measures. Moreover, staffs will be trained in applying the precautionary measures necessary needed to curb the spread of the virus.
