The Ministry of Transport and Communications (MOTC) has adopted the clean EURO 5 policy for all buses and trucks that will be imported to the State of Qatar, starting from the models manufactured for 2022, in coordination with the relevant bodies, particularly Qatar Petroleum, the Qatar General Organization for Standards and Metrology (QS) and the General Directorate of Traffic.

This comes in the context of the strategy of switching to eco-friendly vehicles in the State of Qatar. This also includes upgrading the specifications of buses and trucks to use the clean EURO 5 diesel. 

The goal behind it is achieving the sought environmental sustainability by using technologies, clean fuel and electrical energy to curb vehicle exhausts and harmful carbon emissions. Thus, this provides a clean, healthy and safe environment for the current and coming generations, in addition to contributing to making a 17% reduction in carbon emissions by 2022, something which supports curbing greenhouse gases and climate change and maintaining economic-environmental balance.
