MOT Reveals Doha Metro Expansion Map and Future Plans

The Ministry of Transport (MOT) confirmed that after the implementation of the first phase, Doha Metro network will focus on providing public transport services in a radial way to connect central Doha and other urban areas.
MOT indicated that through the Transportation Master Plan for Qatar 2050 (TMPQ), there are only two stations for mobility across lines. Moreover, future plans for metro projects in the comprehensive transportation plan consist of eight other projects, such as expanding coverage of existing lines and adding extensions to the Red Line at the city of Mesaieed, the Green Line at the Industrial Area and Muaither, and the new Blue Line.
Six metro projects have been postponed until after 2050, including extensions of the Red Line north to Al Khor City and Ras Laffan, as the expected passenger rate is not sufficient to justify the implementation of these lines.
