The Ministry of Public Health (MOPH) participated in a seminar held yesterday via video conference, on the Arab Food Safety Policy Project, in which a draft prepared by specialists from Qatar was presented, highlighting the main principles and essential elements of the food control system, so that it would be efficient and effective in accordance with the best international practices in regulating food safety, along with the food chain, traceability, transparency, parity, compliance, and other principles.
The draft, which was presented by Mr. Khalid Al Sulaiti, Head of Ports Health and Food Control section in MOPH, provides the technical basis for joint coordination and standardization of procedures between the competent authorities in the Arab countries, to advance food safety and the legislation related thereto, with the aim of protecting health of human, animals, plants, and the environment, as well as facilitating trade by applying principles based on scientific foundations.
