About

The Ministry of Public Health (MOPH) has announced its plans to conduct saliva-based Coronavirus (COVID-19) tests for children starting from next Sunday, 20 September 2020. This comes within the framework of a national COVID-19 testing program that aims at gaining a better picture of the disease infection rates.

The MOPH, in collaboration with Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) and Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC), will conduct tests for all students in both public and private schools in the State of Qatar with the prior consent of the students' parents.

Dr. Mariam Abdul Malik, Managing Director of PHCC, has said: "We are pleased to be utilizing the saliva-based Coronavirus (COVID-19) tests for children, in collaboration with our key partners. This is because we will be using this method to conduct the Coronavirus tests throughout four-to-six-week testing program."
