The Ministry of Public Health (MOPH) has announced it has lowered the minimum age for the Coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccine eligibility category to include people who are at the age of 35 years or above.

The step comes as part of the implementation of the National COVID-19 Vaccination Program in the State of Qatar whose pace is witnessing a notable acceleration and has now administered 1,200,000 vaccines doses to people who are the most vulnerable to the disease complications.

Dr. Abdullatif Al Khal, Chair of the National Health Strategic Group on COVID-19 and Head of Infectious Diseases at Hamad Medical Corporation, said that amending the minimum age for COVID-19 vaccine eligibility category to 35 years and above comes as part of the Ministry’s endeavors seeking to expand the community categories that are vaccinated and protected against COVID-19.
