MOEHE Sets Out 4 Conditions for Approving Educational Resources of Private Schools and Kindergartens

The Private Education Affairs Sector at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MOEHE) has issued a document of guidelines for reviewing the basic and supporting educational resources of private schools and kindergartens. This document includes conditions and controls related to reviewing and verifying the educational resources as well as measures to approve them, in a manner consistent with the religious values, the national and Arab principles and the social norms and traditions in the State of Qatar.

The Private Education Affairs Department emphasized that private schools and kindergartens wishing to make any amendment, or addition, or deletion to any educational resource must submit to the Department an official request, in order to obtain the necessary approvals.

The Department has set out 4 main conditions for approving the educational resources:   
1) The basic and supporting educational resources must be consistent with the religious values and the political, social and cultural principles in the State of Qatar.
2) All basic and supporting educational resources must be free of any topics sparking disagreements and disputes among the individuals of the society.
3) All contents that run counter to the teachings of the Islamic religion and the values of the Qatari society in resources selected or prepared by school or kindergarten must be deleted.
4) It must be taken into consideration that images and illustrations must be appropriate for the Islamic values and the Qatari norms and traditions.
