The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MOCI), in coordination with the Ministry of Municipality, announced the start of registrations for the national initiative to encourage local production and subsidize the prices of lamb meat for the holy month of Ramadan 1443 AH, from February 28 to March 10, 2202.
This step comes as part of MOCI’s efforts to encourage and support livestock breeders, who own ranches and farms, in order to increase the local production of sheep and to protect the commercial and economic environment in the country. it further comes in anticipation of changing conditions of the supply-demand balance that ensures price stability in the market, and ensuring Citizens have the right to obtain red meat during the holy month at reasonable prices.
MOCI clarified that breeders and farm owners, who have male sheep of the breeds (Awassi – Najdi – Arab – Harri) and who wish to participate in the initiative, must register at the Animal Wealth Department at the Ministry of Municipality, Al Mansoor Tower, 11th floor. Applicants must either attend in person or send a representative, who holds notarised power of attorney.
The ministry also referred to the conditions required to register in the initiative: the applicant must have a valid license and a livestock breeder certificate.
