The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MOCI) announced yesterday the issuance of the decision No. (1) of 2020 taken by the Committee that Sets Maximum Prices and Profit Ratios on setting the maximum prices of hand sanitizers and disinfectants in the State of Qatar.
MOCI stated via its official website that this decision has been made in line with the preventative measures that have been taken by the State of Qatar. These measures aim to curb the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19), combat the unjustified spike in the prices of selling sanitation products and disinfectants, deter monopolistic practices and commercial fraud and ensure the consumer’s right to obtain these products at affordable prices.
MOCI noted that the prices of the products stipulated in the attached price list are regarded as the maximum prices for selling hand sanitizers and disinfectants, and exceeding the limits of these prices is not allowable. Thus, the Ministry will assume the responsibility of taking all its legal measures against violators of this decision.
The Ministry will also intensify its inspection campaigns to ensure the compliance of suppliers and merchants with this decision.
The Ministry also called upon citizens and residents to report on any violations or infringements via the following communication channels:
- Call Center: 16001
- E-mail address: firstname.lastname@example.org
- MOCI’s accounts on social media:
- Twitter @MOCIQATAR
