About

HE Sheikh Dr. Faleh bin Nasser Al Thani, Assistant Undersecretary of Agriculture and Fisheries Affairs of the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME), has disclosed that there are 39 new projects to achieve food security in vegetables, sheep, goats, fishes and table eggs, which are all under the process of contract awarding and development so that their production will begin next season, highlighting that the ongoing marketing of local product during the summer season is very possible, since the last week has witnessed the sales of 700 tons of products, which emphasizes that products are available and the food security strategy achieves its goals.

HE Sheikh Al Thani said that during the upcoming two weeks, the construction of 10 projects for breeding and fattening 50,000 sheep would begin, so that the production would begin before the end of this year with the aim of achieving self-sufficiency, as lambs and young goats are being purchased from breeders directly with good price.

He added that MME is working hard to support the food security projects by granting lands for Qatari investors of private sector at nominal rents, in addition to offering the opportunity to get loans without interests through Qatar Development Bank or with nominal interests, as well as providing technical support and guidance required for agricultural projects.
