News Details

The Department of Waste Recycling and Treatment at the Ministry of Municipality carried out a trial operation of one of the three mobile waste transfer stations on Thursday morning, May 12, 2022. The stations will be deployed through coordination between the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy (SC) and the General Cleanliness Department at the sites of major events that Qatar will witness during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

Mr. Hassan Nasr Al Nasr, Assistant Director of the Department of Waste Recycling and Treatment, said the experiment has been successful and effective. He noted that the three stations will have an effective role in collecting waste with ease while facilitating the transfer process based on the latest technologies in use worldwide. The collected waste will be transported to the waste treatment center to complete the disposal process. Electricity and fertilizers will be produced from the waste while recyclable materials will be extracted, as he said.

Al Nasr explained that the mobile stations will greatly support public hygiene efforts in these places, which will witness a large public turnout, while providing the opportunity to transfer them quickly and according to the latest methods in a manner that preserves the environment and supports the sustainability efforts that the ministry is keen on.
