HE the Minister of Commerce and Industry Mr. Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari, who is also chairman of Qatar Development Bank (QDB), inaugurated yesterday the first virtual edition of the Qatar Entrepreneurship Conference 2020 (Rowad Qatar). The conference was under the auspices of HE Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior.

At the outset, HE the Minister of Commerce and Industry expressed thanks and appreciation to HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior for his honorable patronage of the conference, and also HE the Minister expressed his happiness with opening the conference. Mr. Al Kuwari pointed out that this conference is regarded as an excellent platform aiming to bolster the engagement of business entrepreneurs in shaping the future of the economy of the State of Qatar.    

HE the Minister added that this pioneering national initiative builds on the successes of its previous editions and complements the State's strategy to enrich the entrepreneurship, something which has been positively reflected in many international reports and studies. He noted that last year, the State of Qatar ranked first in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region and third globally, according to the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) report.

HE the Minister emphasized the keenness of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry to strengthen cooperation and joint coordination with various relevant government entities and agencies, with the aim of facilitating and expediting procedures for granting approvals and licenses necessary for establishing businesses and companies and providing access to these services through the smart online single-window platform.
