Mr. Nasir Mihanna Al Mannai, director of the Citizens Housing Department affiliated with the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labor and Social Affairs (MADLSA), has disclosed an underway work on providing all available remote housing services in the future, developing integrated database related to housing and reviewing the annual goals of the Department. This is according to the latest developments of the crisis of the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19). Moreover, there is an underway work on spreading awareness on the advantages of online services, encouraging the use of these services and directing the public to use the remote services of the Department. He noted that some people lacking the knowledge of online applications is the greatest difficulties.
Al Mannai said that the Department received 602 online services from 18 March until 5 May 2020, and that housing loan, building permits and demolition requests have been the most prominent services. In addition, 20 customers were received daily in line with the precautionary measures. Moreover, the Department has worked on providing protective devices including sanitizers, gloves and masks for employees. Furthermore, the Department holds remote meetings via various electronic platforms of the Department. This also includes providing qualified researchers to reply to complaints and queries of the public.
He noted that in view of the fact that a large segment of users is aware of the need to have social distancing and stay at homes in the light of the current conditions, the Citizens Housing Department has witnessed a huge increase in requests submitted online and number of phone calls via the hotline.
