Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation (KAHRAMAA), and Vodafone Qatar have announced the signing of a partnership agreement aimed at digitizing the utility industry in the State of Qatar by launching smart meters supported by the Internet of Things (IOT) across the country.

Following a successful pilot project, the agreement was signed yesterday by KAHRAMAA's President, Engineer Essa Bin Hilal Al Kuwari, and Vodafone Qatar CEO, Sheikh Hamad bin Abdulla Al Thani, at KAHRAMAA's headquarters.

Under the agreement, 600,000 smart meters located in homes and companies across the country will be equipped with Vodafone IOT SIMs that remotely transmit real-time metering data to KAHRAMAA's systems. The IOT communication platform managed by Vodafone is the central pillar of this dedicated service. It is a secure self-service platform that simplifies the management of IOT, giving KAHRAMAA a comprehensive vision and a high degree of control over the smart meters connected to the IOT platform.
