HE Maryam bint Abdullah Al Attiyah, Chairman of the National Human Rights Committee (NHRC), announced the organization of a package of various events along with the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™, as it believes in the importance of participating in this global event hosted by the State of Qatar amid preparations and great anticipation.
HE confirmed that human right issues remain an important part of all events and occasions, and therefore, the Committee's role comes in raising awareness about the rights and duties that need to be considered.
Al Attiyah explained that the first events related to the World Cup, which will be launched by NHRC, will be the holding of a training course on "Human Rights at International Airports" targeting workers in the Committee's office at the airport, in addition to nine volunteers from Oman Human Rights Commission hosted by NHRC during the World Cup period. The course participants will be trained for a week on human right principles at the airport.
HE pointed out that the Committee will officially inaugurate its office at Hamad International Airport (HIA) on November 1, due to the strategic importance of HIA, which is one of the most important international ports that receive visitors from various cultural backgrounds all over the world.
