Hamad International Airport (HIA) has been ranked the "Best Airport in the World" for the second year in a row by the prestigious SKYTRAX World Airport Awards 2022 in a ceremony held on the sidelines of the global event Passenger Terminal Expo in Paris, France. HIA has also retained its title as the "Best Airport in the Middle East" for the eighth year in a row.

The rankings of the nominated airports were based on voting submitted by air travelers and passenger satisfaction across 39 key performance indicators for airport services and products including, for example, check-in, arrivals, transfers, shopping, security, immigration, and departure.

HIA has won first place as the best airport in the world after a competition that brought it together with 550 airports from other international airports.
