MATAR, the Qatar Company for Airport Operation and Management, announced that Hamad International Airport (HIA) has been awarded with the International Standards Organization ISO 14001 Environmental Management certification.

The achievement of the ISO14001:2015 certificate for Hamad International Airport, from international standards body British Standards Institution (BSI) Group, marks a key milestone in the implementation of MATAR’S long term environmental goals.

Commenting on the certification, HIA’s COO Engr. Badr Mohammed Al Meer, remarked: "Sustainability is at the core of everything we do at HIA, so we are very proud to be awarded this international accreditation. Over the last few years, we have taken significant steps to reduce our energy and water demand, reduce waste and recycle waste, so this latest achievement will help to launch our ambition as environmental leaders within the aviation industry."
