HE Minister of Environment and Climate Change: There is a plan to encourage the private sector to invest in recycling

During his participation in the ministerial discussion session held yesterday as part of the activities of the 2nd Waste Management Conference and Exhibition 2022, HE Sheikh Dr. Faleh bin Nasser bin Ahmed bin Ali Al Thani, Minister of Environment and Climate Change, emphasized the importance of the conference, which was organized by the Ministry of Municipality from June 13-14 and participated by the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MOECC).     

HE the Minister pointed out that HE Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, launched the Qatar National Environment and Climate Change Strategy during October 2021. The strategy aims to protect and enhance the Qatari environment to maintain the quality of life for the Qatari people and ensure economic resilience in the long run, as he said. 

HE the Minister said that waste management is an important pillar in this strategy. He also noted that MOECC is attentive to the need to involve the private sector in this area. The sustainability department has been established as part of the Ministry's structure and this department will be tasked with looking for new opportunities for waste management and its reduction and recycling, as well as looking for new investments to develop this sector, as he said.
