Now, volunteering has played a significant role in supporting and assisting the efforts exerted by the State of Qatar in fighting against the Coronavirus (COVID-19), including “TAMM” Network for Volunteering affiliated with Social Development Center – “NAMA.” “TAMM” Network for Volunteering plays a great role during this period in registering volunteers, and linking them to available and required volunteering opportunities. Mr. Nayef Al Shahrani, Head of Program “TAMM” Network for Volunteering, has said that the Network aspires to provide the best trainings for volunteers, and distribute them in order to be engaged in areas suiting their potentials and interests. He added that the Network also seeks the best scientific and practical means and lessons learned to promote volunteers, develop their potentials and let them acquire knowledge and skills required for performing their volunteering tasks.
Al Shahrani said that during the current period, the work on the second phase of “TAMM” Network for Volunteering is underway, in collaboration with the Strategic Partner Ministry of Transport and Communications (MOTC). Al Shahrani explained that the Network would be developed in the best form for institutions and volunteers, so as to provide full online services.
Al Shahrani said: “We in “TAMM” Network for Volunteering have launched a campaign on the social networking websites to educate on the Coronavirus, which works on curbing the spread of rumors. The campaign also works on urging citizens and residents not to circulate news, to gather information from official sources and to follow instructions issued by official authorities in the State. Moreover, the campaign aims at spreading awareness on the importance of staying home for their safety, and urging them to develop their skills in several different areas. During the campaign, we have focused on the important role of youth at this period in which the State needs their solidarity until this crisis becomes over.”
