Criminal Investigation Department (CID) affiliated with the Ministry of Interior (MOI) carries out many roles to confront the outbreak of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) in coordination with other departments. The CID apprehends, investigates and refers people who violate the quarantine requirements to Public Prosecution. In addition, the CID alongside the team of the Ministry of Public Health (MOPH) traces the series of people found to have been in contact with infected cases.
An instructional video posted on the official Twitter account of MOI yesterday made clear that the CID performs several tasks. They include enforcing the decision to ban gatherings via various patrols performed by the CID in coordination with other departments, and monitoring gatherings in roads and public places, and gatherings in front of shops and restaurants and as well as gatherings in private Al Majalis (private places of sitting), ranches and farms. The CID control room provides a full picture of the situation on the ground. Moreover, the control room provides support for detective sections to help them in performing their assigned tasks and duties.
The CID reaches a series of those mixing with Coronavirus infections through several ways, including patrols and modern technologies.
