Cabinet Decides to Take Necessary Measures to Issue a Law on Mediation in Settling Civil and Commercial Disputes

The Cabinet, chaired by HE Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, at the outset of the regular meeting held yesterday via videoconferencing, praised the speech of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, may God preserve him, at the main session of the Saint Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF 2021) held in the city of Saint Petersburg in the Russian Federation last Friday.

Moreover, the Cabinet praised HH the Amir's important intervention in the forum's discussion session and the visions and ideas he presented in the fields of the future of energy, environmental protection, sports, and HH the Amir's vision of a world after the COVID-19 pandemic.

After this, the Cabinet decided the following: 

  • Taking necessary measures to issue a draft law on mediation by issuing a law settling civil and commercial disputes after reviewing the recommendation of the Shura Council.
  • Approving a draft memorandum of understanding for cooperation and integration in the field of earthquakes and geophysics between the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority in the State of Qatar and Sultan Qaboos University in the Sultanate of Oman.
  • The Cabinet reviewed the memorandum of HE Minister of Administrative Development, Labor and Social Affairs on some of the Ministry's recommendations regarding the results of the 340th session of the International Labor Organization Board of Directors, and took the appropriate decision in this regard.
