The Cabinet, Chaired by HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani, in its regular meeting held yesterday afternoon at its seat at the Amiri Diwan, approved, in principle, a draft law on documents and archives.

The draft law aims to regulate the handling, classification, preservation and protection of public, historical, national and other documents.

The Cabinet also approved, in principle, a draft Amiri decision regulating the Qatar National Archive.

The National Archive aims to organize the collection and preservation of documents and archives, classify their confidentiality and supervize them. In order to achieve this, it has the right to exercise all the powers and competencies necessary to achieve its objectives.
