The Zakat Fund Department of the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs (Awqaf) has adopted new procedures for collecting zakat remotely by online means (via the bank's ATMs, , bank application, and government website), as well as through the quick collector, from companies and individuals who want to pay their zakat, in order to complement the precautionary measures and preventive measures that It has been taken by the fund's management, in line with the nation's relentless endeavors to curb the spread of Coronavirus (Covid-19).
Mr. Jarrab bin Muhammad Al Hababi, head of the collection and zakat accounts department of the Zakat Fund Management, said that the new procedures are in line with the intentions of Islamic Sharia in self-preservation, which comes in the second degree after preserving religion, within the five essentials that Sharia urged to take care of and maintain, and it is in line with the general orientations of the state in urging the public to adhere to the homes under the current circumstances and not go out except for the extreme necessity, to preserve public health and limit the spread of infection.
