The Zakat Fund Department at the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs (Awqaf) has opened 11 new Zakat collection points, including 6 permanent sites and 5 temporary sites.
Mr. Jarab Al Ahbabi, Head of the Collection and Zakat Accounts, said that the opening of the new collection points comes within the framework of the Fund's endeavor to expand and be present in most of the cities, villages and regions of the State. The fund also aims from that expansion to make it easier for Zakat payers to find the fund points around their residential areas.
He noted that the new permanent sites located within the following Al Meera branches: Al Meera Jeryan Nejaima, Al Meera Leabaib 1, Al Meera Leabaib 2, Al Meera Bani Hajer, Al Meera Al Wajba, and Al Meera Al Wakra West, and the temporary sites are located in Hamad General Hospital, Women's Wellness and Research Center, Specialized Surgery Center, Sidra Mall, and J-Mall.
Mr. Al Ahbabi mentioned that the new collection points have already started operation from the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan, in addition to the 27 offices and sites of the Zakat Fund spread throughout the country, and thus the Zakat Fund has 38 offices and collection points.
