News Details

Dr. Jamila Al Ajmi, Senior Consultant of Infectious Diseases, Executive Director of the Infection Control Department at Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), confirmed the inventory of contacts of people infected with Coronavirus in schools, whether students, teachers or employees, if infection with COVID-19 is suspected, through the surveillance team of the Ministry of Public Health (MOPH), in coordination with the school administration, and informing parents of the situation and the actions that the school will take.

Dr. Al Ajmi explained that the cases in contact are divided into two types: those who have been vaccinated, and those who have contracted the disease during the past three months, and have no symptoms, and these are excluded from the quarantine. A PCR test will be done on the third day of contact. In addition, for the contact cases that did not receive the vaccination, it will be quarantined for 14 days, with a PCR test performed twice immediately after contact and on the seventh day, in addition to continuous follow-up from MOPH that no symptoms appear during the 14-day period.
