Government schools are state-funded schools and they have the freedom to carry out their mission and their educational goals and recruit teachers and staff. The volume of funding allocated to each government school depends on the number of teachers and students.
The enrollment of Qatari students in government schools in the State of Qatar is free, while the enrollment of non-Qatari students is subject to policy specified by individual school.
School curriculum must follow the standards set forth by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MOEHE) in subjects including Arabic, English, math, sciences and Islamic studies.
Government schools are divided into the following levels:
Primary School: Grade 1 – 6.
Preparatory School: Grade 7 – 9.
Secondary School: Grade 10 – 12.
